GLOCEPS HOLDS ANNUAL CONFERENCE CALLING ON AFRICA TO UNITE AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE

The Global centre for policy and stragey (GLOCEPS) second annual conference has kicked off today at a Nairobi hotel with calls for African countries to unite and speak with one voice to adress the challenges of climate change ahead of Africa climate summit to be held in Nairobi early next month and COP 28 to held in Dubai in November.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the conference graced by presidential advisor on security matters Monica Juma and East Africa community cabinet secretary Rebecca Miano and the retired inspector general of police Joseph Boinet,the executive director of GLOCEPS retired Brigadier Robert Kabage has called on African countries to develop a road map ahead of cop 28 that will adress peace, security and development as mitigation measure to counter climate change effects and organised transnational crimes due to migrationsas a result of climate catastrophies.

In a bid to offer early warnings and adress issues of those affected by climate change African leaders should speak in one accord to enhance partnerships and financing to resolve conflicts along boundaries from those displaced and use science to advance research and tackle regional security challenges and spear head policies at National level to respond to recurrent disasters.

GLOCEPS is a think tank established in the year two thousand and twenty and is based in Nairobi Kenya with the aim of influencing policy making and future mitigations to reduce climate related risks.
