PACJA LAUNCHES KEEP THE PROMISE CAMPAIGN



After the conclusion of much hyped African climate summit that was held in Nairobi Kenya and attended by more than twenty head of African states that lead to the Nairobi declaration on climate change,Pan Africa climate Justice Alliance PACJA has today launched 'keep the promise' campaign to hold the North to account for their atrocities that have lead to climate change effects in African countries and keep their pledges of climate finance made in the just concluded climate summit as well as  compel them to Paris agreement.

Speaking in Nairobi the Non state actors said the climate conference was a success but castigated the carbon markets and carbon trading saying it's not a solution to climate change but a false solution.The youth perspective in tackling climate change was also highlited as PACJA banks on its rich cohorts of the summer schools which has trained thousands of youths across Africa calling on them to be African voices to champion the fight against historic poluters who cause climate change.

In a bid to mobilise non state actors ahead of COP 28 which will be held in November in Dubai,calls for the global North to cut their emissions dominated the launch with strong voices calling on proper policies from Pan African legislators to phase out carbon markets and adress transitional mineral endowed in atrocities,loss and damage resulting from impacts of climate changes.
