Oxfam Africa Director Fat N'zi-Hassane has said effects of developed countries have plunged African Countries to huge loans since half of the money given for mitigations are loans which should be repaid thus a huge climate injustice leaving atleast 35 million people from the four countries suffering from severe hunger because of two year drought and years of flooding which has displaced many causing humatarian crisis and border conflicts.
The G7 countries and Russia alone have been responsible for 85 percent of global emissions since the year 1850 which is 850 times the emissions of Kenya, Ethiopia,Somalia,and south Sudan combined.
Women and girls are most affected with the number of those who needs urgent aid doubling from 20.7 Million to 43.5 Million,This calls for African voices to be heard ahead of COP 28 in demanding rich nations polluting nations to cut their emissions and compensate East Africa for climate loss and damage to enable the region recover from worsening climate shocks and impacts.
