NAIROBI RIVER TO GET FACE-LIFT

A coordinating conference on Nairobi River recovery strategy action plan was held today in Nairobi Kenya seeking partnerships and engagements to provide a clean and healthy environment within the rivers basin, restoration, rehabilitations and beautification of the rivers and water bodies within Nairobi.


Speaking during the stakeholders conference permanent secretary state department of devolution Ms Teresia Mbaika has louded the action plan developed for Nairobi River Basin recovery saying it will help in mapping and reclaiming riparian land,waste to rivers and catchment protection.


Approximately twenty two billion is required to immediately address solid waste, sewage, industrial waste challenge riparian mapping and tackle the issue of catchment protection.

This will be implemented in phases,phase one expected to take one month to eight months,phase two eight months to twenty four months and phase three eighteen months to a period of six years.
