THE ANNUAL FRIENDS OF ACTION AID MEET IN NAIROBI

For over five decades, Friends of ActionAid has relentlessly worked with poor communities, ostracised from the contemporary society by facilitating their own leadership and and ensuring all elected leaders are kept accountable.
“Women's right is a pertinent matter today, & creating awareness in the community is imperative.


Sauti Ya Wanawake Kishushe chapter, Taita Taveta County has grown not only in terms of membership but, importantly, sensitising women of their rights. They can stand up for themselves.” Asserted Mary Mwadime ,senior consultant at USAID .



Also speaking at the event was Diana Gichengo ,the national coordinator The institute of social accountability (TISA) Kenya. She reiterated how ActionAid Kenya should strongly move into building digital entrepreneurship amongst the youth.


To ensure that Kenyans are part of the far reaching efforts made by ActionAid, they can contribute to Friends of ActionAid mandate of creating a perfect future by doing the following things:

1. Volunteering
Communities can volunteer their time and skills to support the organization’s projects and activities. This can include participating in local events, fundraising efforts, or offering expertise in areas that align with ActionAid’s mission.
The schedules involved are favourable to ensure volunteers still have time to cater for their personal necessities.

2. Donations
Individuals within communities can make financial contributions to support the initiative. These donations can go towards funding various development projects, emergency relief efforts, or ongoing programs.
For any individual willing to make such donations for this noble cause, then they can send their donations to:
i) M-Pesa paybill number – 899610 and include the Account name as ActionAid Kenya

3. Advocacy
Kenyans can advocate for the causes and issues that ActionAid addresses. This includes raising awareness about social justice, human rights, and inequality through social media, community meetings, and other platforms.

4. Participation in Programs
ActionAid often runs programs and campaigns that involve community participation. Kenya can actively engage in these programs to address local and global challenges collectively.

5. Educational Initiatives
Communities can benefit from ActionAid’s educational programs and resources, which can empower individuals with knowledge and skills to create positive change within their communities.

6. Collaboration
Communities can collaborate with ActionAid on specific projects or initiatives that address local needs and align with ActionAid’s mission. This partnership can lead to more effective and sustainable solutions.
