The conference held at a Nairobi hotel seeks to tap on voice of African parliamentarians in tackling climate crisis and come up with solutions that will empower communities especially women and ensure African voice is heard and respected according to Dr Mithika Mwenda PACJA executive director who spoke during the opening of the conference.
Addressing the conference Kenyan legislator Hon Martha Wangare representing the national assembly of Kenya has called on robust climate change measures to create comprehensive climate policy for Africa and reduce green house gases.
The conference is attended by Ruiru member of parliament Hon Simon Kingara, Masinga Mp Hon Joshua Mbithi,Nairobi women representative Hon Esther Pasaris,Homabay senator Moses kajwang among other legislators in the climate caucas.HE Ambassador Josefa sacko Africa Union commissioner,HE Dr Mahmoud COP 27 presidency climate envoy, Egypt,Uganda,south Sudan,somalia and Cameroon legislators.
Africa climate summit kicks off next week in Nairobi Kenya at the iconic Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) as Africa and global leaders come together to discuss early warning,climate finance , mitigations and policy enactment to adress the climate change menace which will culminate to the Nairobi declaration.
